The Leeds boss giving employees a permanent three-day weekend at full pay

A Leeds boss has revealed his plans to give his employees a permanent three-day weekend at full pay, following a successful trial.

The specialist financial services recruitment company, BWD, situated in Leeds’ financial district, first trialled a shorter week back in January.

The pilot scheme was designed to improve employee wellbeing and to increase morale and productivity in the workplace.

And the pilot project paid off, reports The Mirror, as the company saw a positive increase in productivity and satisfaction at work.

As well as staff reportedly feeling happier and more motivated, the firm also so a large uplift in its internal metrics.

Managing director of the business, James Walker, said the decision to start the trial wasn’t taken “lightly”.

He said: “We didn’t take the decision to trial the move back in January lightly.

“But we trusted our employees and over the last three months the company has seen the fruits of that.”

Mr Walker said that his employees have embraced the extra day off - which the company dubs as ‘My Day’.

He noted that they have been using the extra time to enjoy hobbies or to spend more time with their loved ones.

It was during the 2019 December elections that condensing the working week down to four days first picked up momentum.

The Labour party suggested a policy to implement a 32-hour working week with no less pay within the next 10 years.
