The League Two tables that Bolton Wanderers topped in automatic promotion winning season

Bolton Wanderers will be a League One club next season once more after clinching automatic promotion back to the third tier of English football.

Ian Evatt's side made a remarkable turnaround in their season as they went from the bottom half of the table in February to the top three by the conclusion of the campaign.

Their place back in League One was confirmed last weekend with an impressive 4-1 victory on the road against Crawley Town is what was arguably their best performance of the season.

Bolton finished third in the League Two table, behind Cambridge United and champions Cheltenham Town, and will renew acquaintances with both teams next season in League One.

In the end, Wanderers finished the campaign only a point behind Cambridge just three off Cheltenham in top spot.

But there were a few tables that Evatt's side finished top of in the 2020/21 season.

With three points on the road on the final day of the regular season at the People's Pension Stadium, Bolton finished the campaign with the most points picked up away from home with 41.

That was two more than Cambridge and three more than champions Cheltenham.

As well as this, Wanderers also came out on top of the possession charts - evidence of the style of play which Evatt has nurtured at the University of Bolton Stadium this season.

According to statistics from WhoScored.com, Bolton had the greatest average possession across games in League Two with 54.3% - marginally higher than the side next of the list in the form of Exeter City, who narrowly missed out on the play-offs.

And Wanderers also came out on top in the pass accuracy department with 74.6%, which is higher than the next side on the list Oldham Athletic, who boasted 72.2% and ended the campaign 18th.
