Rishi Sunak has completed his mini cabinet shuffle, creating four new government departments and appointing five MPs into new roles.

The biggest appointment on Tuesday was the prime minister’s decision to replace Nadhim Zahawi as chairman of the Conservatives with MP Greg Hands.

Elsewhere Grant Shapps and Michelle Donelan were appointed ministers for Energy Security and Net Zero, and Science and Innovation and Technology respectively.

Kemi Badenoch was appointed minister for Business and Trade, and Lucy Frazer was appointed as Culture, Media, and Sport minister.

Rishi Sunak said his shake-up will “focus teams on the issues that will build a better future for our children and grandchildren”.

The Evening Standard’s Deputy Political Editor David Bond discusses the details of the reshuffle, and how the changes could impact the Conservatives ahead of next year's general election.
