The Layvin Kurzawa record that will concern Arsenal fans as January transfer talks are confirmed

Arsenal could be closing in on the signing of a new left-back.

The big transfer news surrounding the north London outfit over the past 24 hours is that of Layvin Kurzawa making the move from the French capital to the capital of England.

Out of contract at the end of the season, the 27-year-old will be available on a free transfer in the summer if he doesn't sign a new deal at Paris Saint-Germain between now and June 30.

Premier League transfer round-up: Bruno Fernandes talks

But according to The Athletic, Arsenal are keen to sign Kurzawa this month.

Furthermore, the report claims Arsenal's head of football Raul Sanllehi held talks with the Ligue 1 champions on Thursday, with the Gunners seeing the prospect of signing the defender without paying a fee as a 'no brainer'.

In addition, football.london now understands that the reports of talks and interest are very much legit and it just remains to be seen if an agreement can be reached before deadline day.

Some Gunners supporters have expressed their excitement regarding the Frenchman's potential arrival at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Kurzawa's injury record might alter that opinion.

As spotted on transfermarkt , a detailed report of the left-back's injury history doesn't make good reading as he's struggled to stay fit on a consistent basis throughout his career in France.

Most of Kurzawa's problems have been hamstring or calf related, although he did suffer an herniated disc which saw him miss 16 games across all competitions last season.

That's the highest number of games he's missed during his career to date, but what could concern Arsenal fans is that only in the 2012/2013 campaign has he managed to stay injury-free.

There is a left-back shortage at Arsenal following injuries to Kieran Tierney and Sead Kolasinac, prompting head coach Mikel Arteta to express his desire to find a natural full-back.

"We are already playing with full-backs that are not full-backs" he told reporters.

"They are wingers or central midfielders and could we afford to lose full-backs? No, but we don't have any full-backs."
