The Laurie Arms in Haugh of Urr raising charity cash with virtual pub quizzes

A lockdown pub quiz is helping raise both spirits and hundreds of pounds for charity.

The Laurie Arms in Haugh of Urr would normally hold a pub quiz each month but, like other hostelries, it’s closed its doors for the time being.

Instead, they’ve been holding a charity pub quiz on the first Friday of the Month through their Facebook page. The first one attracted more than 70 teams and saw more than £200 donated to Castle Douglas Cottage Hospital.

The second quiz took place on Friday and so far £120 has been raised with proceeds going to The Heart of Galloway Foodbank in Castle Douglas as well as the charities it is working alongside during the pandemic.

The next quiz will be on Friday, June 5, and everyone is welcome to take part.
