The latest on Donny van de Beek's future as Tottenham make fantastic NHS decision

Here is your morning digest on Tottenham for Thursday, April 16.

Tottenham opens to NHS COVID-19 testing

Tottenham have become the first Premier League club to open their stadium to NHS testing for COVID-19, with pictures of the facility released.

The North London club’s basement car park is being used as a drive-through coronavirus testing centre for staff of North Middlesex University Hospital, their families and dependants.

It’s expected that 70 coronavirus tests will be carried out per day between 10am and 2pm from Monday to Friday, with Spurs’ new stadium also being used as a temporary home for North Middlesex University’s women’s outpatients services department to free up much-needed capacity.

The stadium’s media entrance and cafe has been transformed into a main reception and welfare area for visitors and NHS staff.

Premier League clubs join forces

Nine rival Premier League clubs have banded together to propose that the 2019/20 season be brought to a conclusion by June 30, according to reports.

The Mirror claims discussions have taken place between a number of clubs in the division with the argument being put forward that a deadline should be set for the end of the season rather than indefinitely delaying it due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The nine clubs will present their case to the Premier League on Friday with the idea being that the 2019/20 season will be declared null and void with Liverpool intended to be crowned champions through some formula.

There are concerns over the situation which could see numerous player contracts expire in June while the continued financial stress of the coronavirus pandemic remains a factor in clubs’ desire for a solution.

Van de Beek’s agent confirms interest in Tottenham target

The agent of Donny van de Beek has confirmed interest in the Ajax midfielder amid reports that Tottenham are among those monitoring the 22-year-old.

Guido Albers told the Daily Star that the interest in his client is genuine, adding fuel to the speculation linking Van de Beek with a move to Spurs as Jose Mourinho reportedly looks to strengthen his midfield.

“There is interest – and that is also known – for a long time and from several clubs. We will see what will eventually come out of that in the coming weeks,” Albers said.

“I do not dare say anything about that at the moment. I can’t say anything about it because some things are just confidential.”
