The latest on Andy Robertson's injury as Liverpool gear up for potential Premier League-clincher against Wolves

Andy Robertson will continue to be assessed ahead of Liverpool's potential Premier League-clinching visit from Wolves on Sunday.

However, suggestions the influential left-back could miss the Champions League final through injury are wide of the mark as the Reds get set to host Nuno Espirito Santo's side this weekend.

Robertson was forced off at half time of Liverpool's incredible 4-0 comeback against Barcelona on Tuesday night after a tangle involving ex-Reds star Luis Suarez.

The Scotland captain battled through the pain barrier but was unable to return for the second period as the Reds pulled off the remarkable turnaround to book their place in the Champions League final.

“They’re confident that it’s just a nerve or whatever and it can be maybe a couple of days, but we’ll wait and see,” Robertson explained after the game on Tuesday evening.

"We can’t really comment until I get the scan, but I’ll be saying my prayers tonight."

The ECHO understands Liverpool are continuing to assess the severity of the injury ahead of Sunday's game against Wolves, although the former Hull City man is not a doubt for the Champions League final against Tottenham on June 1.

How radical Champions League changes could be set to affect Liverpool

If Robertson is unable to prove his fitness for the game this weekend, James Milner is likely to deputise in his place as the curtain comes down on Alberto Moreno's Anfield career.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to provide a further update on the condition of his defender in Friday's pre-match press conference at Melwood.

Robertson has been a stellar performer on the left side of the joint-best defence in the Premier League this season.

The Scot has pitched in with 13 assists going forward while also helping a miserly backline ship just 22 goals all term, the joint best alongside Manchester City.

Liverpool can win their 19th league title and first for 29 years with a win on Sunday provided leaders City fail to beat Brighton at the Amex.

Robertson will fly to Madrid later this month for his second successive Champions League final since moving from Hull in the summer of 2017.
