Rory McIlroy has been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite to win the Masters, ahead of the showpiece event starting tomorrow.
The Northern Irishman is the clear favourite for the Augusta National, at just 8/1 to complete the career grand slam and win the only major that still eludes him.
A flurry of bets on McIlroy has resulted in 10% of all bets over the last week, 9% over the last month and 8% in the past 24 hours all backing him.
The 29-year-old is the most backed across the market, resulting in bookies slashing his odds from 12/1, into as short as 13/2 with some firms.

Heralded as the star of the season thus far, McIlroy has five top 10 finishes in his last five Masters outings and was favourite heading into last year’s final round.
Winning at Sawgrass appears to have been the catalyst for the punting frenzy on the County Down man, with McIlroy by far the most backed ahead of the tournament.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Rory McIlroy has been in tremendous form all season, but his inability to close out tournaments left many scratching their heads.
"Closing out the 'fifth major' at Sawgrass will have been a huge relief to both Rory and his fans, and will set him in great stead should he be at the top of the leaderboard on Sunday evening."
