The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Thursday, August 4.

Victoria

There have been another nine deaths of people with COVID-19 in Victoria. 

There are 723 cases in hospital, with 37 of those in intensive care and seven requiring ventilation.

There were 8,785 new COVID-19 cases today.

New South Wales

There have been another 33 COVID-related deaths in New South Wales, including nine that were notified through the New South Wales Registry of Births Deaths and Marriages.

There are 2,213 cases in hospital, with 60 of those in intensive care.

There were 14,387 new cases today.

Northern Territory

The Northern Territory has reported no new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 56 cases in hospital, with one of those in intensive care.

There were 358 new COVID-19 cases reported today.

Tasmania

Tasmania has reported four new COVID-19-related deaths.

There are 95 cases in hospital, with five of those in intensive care.

There were 856 new COVID-19 cases reported today.

Queensland

Queensland has reported 31 new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 745 cases in hospital, with 25 of those in intensive care.

There were 5,585 new COVID-19 cases reported today.

Australian Capital Territory

The territory has reported three new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 147 cases in hospital, with four of those in intensive care and one person being ventilated.

There were 641 new COVID-19 cases reported today.

South Australia

South Australia has reported three new COVID-19 deaths.

There are 356 cases in hospital, with 12 of those in intensive care and one person being ventilated.

There were 2,933 new COVID-19 cases reported today.

Western Australia

Western Australia has reported two more COVID-19 deaths.

There are 367 cases in hospital, with 17 of those in intensive care.

There were 3,852 new COVID-19 cases reported today.
