The latest coronavirus infection rates for every borough in Greater Manchester

Coronavirus infection rates are continuing to fall across Greater Manchester, the latest figures show.

While they are decreasing in all ten boroughs, there are six areas where transmission rates are above the national average.

Rates are now highest in Bolton, where they stand at 277.5 cases per 100,000 people, the latest data from Public Health England shows.

Cases in Bolton fell by two per cent, week on week.

The biggest week on week decrease came in Bury, where cases fell by 24 per cent.

Nationally, across England cases fell by a quarter compared with the previous week.

The impact of the third national lockdown is continuing to be seen with the latest infection rates.

It came as the Prime Minister warned it is 'still early days' to be talking about opening up society again.

Reports have suggested pubs could be re-opened in May.

Previously a target date for all pupils to return to schools was set as March 8.

Tory MP Mark Harper, chairman of the Covid Recovery Group, has called on Boris Johnson to consider bringing the date forward.

In a video message on Twitter, Mr Johnson urged people to stick to lockdown rules.

He said: “I want to stress that it is still early days and we have rates of infection in this country (that are) still very, very high and (have) more people – almost twice as many people – in our hospitals with Covid now than there were back at the peak in April."

It comes as the Government said all adults over the age of 50 should receive a coronavirus vaccine by May.

They include the nine priority cohorts, who were assigned to receive the vaccine first.

More than 10 million people in the UK have received their first dose of a coronavirus vaccine.
