The latest coronavirus infection rates as all ten boroughs in Greater Manchester continue to see a fall

Coronavirus infection rates are continuing to fall in all ten of Greater Manchester's boroughs.

Rochdale still has the highest rate across the region, with 63.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Cases in the town fell by 21 per cent in comparison to last week.

In all other boroughs infection rates fell by larger percentages, the highest decrease being a 54 per cent fall in Salford.

Cases also fell by more than a half in comparison to last week in Trafford.

Despite the decrease in cases, all ten of our boroughs' infection rates are still above the average for England, which is 28 cases per 100,000 people.

Across Greater Manchester, the average infection rate is now 46.7 cases per 100,000 population.

In the seven days until April 7, 1325 people tested positive across the region.

In Rochdale, 142 people tested positive for the virus in that week.

There were 130 positive tests in Oldham in the same period. Infection rates fell by 43 per cent in comparison to the previous week.

In Bolton, the number of cases has decreased by 44 per cent, with 153 people testing positive for for the virus in the seven days to April 7.

There were recorded 280 cases in Manchester during that period, a week-on-week decrease of 39 per cent.

In Wigan rates fell by 26 per cent in comparison to the previous week, with 160 positive tests.

There were 102 cases recorded in Tameside, a fall of 49 per cent in comparison to the week before.

In Stockport cases fell by 29 per cent, with 121 positive tests being recorded.

The number of cases fell by 36 per cent in Bury, with 74 positive tests in the week ending April 7.

There were 87 cases recorded in Salford, a week-on-week fall of 54 per cent.

Trafford, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 76 positive tests, a fall of 53 per cent.

Nationally, the highest infection rates are currently in Corby, Northamptonshire, where cases are at 110.8 per 100,000 people.

The release of the latest data by Public Health England comes ahead of a major easing of lockdown measures tomorrow.

Pubs and restaurants will be able to open outdoors, and non-essential retail can resume business.

Hairdressers and indoor gyms are also set to re-open.
