It is still lower than the average rate for England, which stands at 495.4 for the same week.

The national rate has fallen by 25pc compared to the previous seven day period.

The city's rate has fallen by 10pc to 445.9 per 100,000 people.

There have been significant infection declines in three boroughs.

In Rochdale the rate has fallen by 25pc to 338.6.

Meanwhile, cases continue to tumble in Oldham.

The town's rate has fallen by 21pc to 304.5 per 100,000. It is the lowest figure in Greater Manchester.

Trafford's rate has fallen by 22pc to 386.8.

Bolton, the only area where rates were rising in recent days, has seen no change in its rate of 389.2.

Wigan has the second highest rate in the region with 445.9 cases per 100,000.

Bury's rate has fallen by 14pc to 408.4 and Stockport's by 10pc to 392.5 per 100,000.
