The latest coronavirus infection rates across Greater Manchester as cases drop in five boroughs and rise in five

Coronavirus infection rates have gone up in five Greater Manchester boroughs and have fallen in five, the latest data shows.

The latest Public Health England data shows that transmission rates have risen in Tameside, Stockport, Trafford, Bury and Wigan.

Infection rates have fallen in Salford, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale and Bolton.

Tameside continues to have the highest infection rate across the region.

The borough recorded a rate of 434.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending September 2.

The lowest infection rate is in Bolton, where the rate is 240.4.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate is now 312.8 - lower than the national average of 315.3.

A total of 8,870 people tested positive for coronavirus across the region in the week ending on September 2.

This has decreased by 168 cases compared to the previous week, which means the infection rate was down 2 per cent in the last week.

Hospital admissions

In the week ending on August 29, a total of 300 patients were admitted to Greater Manchester NHS hospitals with Covid-19.

That is 68 fewer than the week before, a fall of 29 per cent.

On Tuesday, August 31, there were 52 Mechanical Ventilation (MV) beds occupied by Covid patients in Greater Manchester NHS hospitals. That is the same as a week earlier.

This is the most recent available data for hospital admissions, the figures for NHS trusts are not updated daily.

Deaths

In the week ending September 2, a total of 36 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, which is five fewer than the week before.

Salford recorded 863 coronavirus cases, which is 76 fewer than in the previous week.

The latest infection rate in the borough is 328.5 - down eight per cent week-on-week.

There were 1130 positive tests over the last week in Stockport , which is 108 more than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend is up by 11 per cent and the latest infection rate is 384.1.

In Tameside , there were 987 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending September 2, which is 21 more than the previous 7 days.

The infection rate is up slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is up by two per cent.

The trend is up in Bury , where there were 593 positive Covid-19 tests.

This is 41 more than the previous week and is up by 7 per cent.

The latest infection rate in Bury is 310.9, which is lower than the national average.

In Oldham , the number of cases is down by 13 per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 273.5.

There were 650 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending September 2, which was 100 fewer than the previous week.

Rochdale is an area where the trend is down - the latest infection rate here is 257.5.

There were 576 cases recorded, which is 64 fewer than the previous week - a fall of ten per cent.

In Trafford , the latest infection rate is 339.7 and the number of cases has gone up by one per cent.

A total of 807 people tested positive for Covid, which is nine more than the week before.

Wigan saw a total of 977 cases, which is 12 more than the previous week. That is a rise of one per cent.

The most recent coronavirus infection rate in the borough is now 295.4.

There was a fall of six per cent in cases in Manchester and the infection rate is now 286.8.

The borough recorded 1594 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 100 fewer than the previous week.

Bolton recorded 693 positive Covid-19 tests, which is 19 fewer than the previous week.

The infection rate is now 240.4 and is down by three per cent week-on-week.
