The latest cases in court: A woman who attacked a cabbie, and man who produced indecent images of a child

One of the most shocking cases to be heard in court this week involved defendant Andrew Houghton who was jailed for six years.

The 27-year-old, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to burglary with aggravating features.

He was one of four men who forced their way into the house, according to police.

A victim impact statement from one of the victims revealed: "I felt I was fighting for our lives, because the intruders were so angry and violent".

And he described how "my life is currently not recognisable as the one I lived prior to this crime occurring. I feel a shell of my former self.

"It would have been obvious to the people entering our property that there was a baby in the house, as there were baby bottles on the windowsill, as they climbed through the window, yet they have gone on to enter our house".

Another case to be heard in court was the case against defendant Tanya Lee.

She was locked up for attacking a cabbie, smashing his glasses and hitting him again when he left his taxi.

The 38-year-old was ordered by a judge to pay the victim £200 compensation.

And a 32-week prison term was imposed on Lee, of Lime Tree Road, Hucknall.

Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard she clambered into the front of the cab during the incident on Maid Marian Way, leaving the victim with a cut nose and needing hospital tests.

He was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court, and jailed for five years.

Detective Constable Richard Howe, of Nottinghamshire Police, said afterwards: "This conclusion to a lengthy investigation over two years is credit to the victim and her family for their courage and determination to seek justice.

"This individual's depravity and coercive control of children in this case is abhorrent and disturbing.

"It is a great result for the bravery of the family - and I'd like to thank them for their support throughout the case.”
