The latest borough-by-borough Greater Manchester Covid infection rates as cases fall in nine areas

The weekly trend of Covid cases continues to fall in the majority of Greater Manchester's boroughs, latest data published on Tuesday shows.

The infection rate has gone up only in Bury.

Official figures show weekly infection rates have fallen in all nine of the city region's other boroughs.

Trafford continues to have the highest coronavirus infection rate in Greater Manchester.

But according to the data, week-by-week cases there are falling faster than anywhere else in Greater Manchester.

Trafford recorded a rate of 456.3 cases per 100,000 people in the week ending October 29, which represents the latest data available from the UK Health Security Agency.

The lowest infection rate is in Oldham, where the rate is now 260.5 cases per 100,000 people.

In Greater Manchester as a whole, the infection rate stands at 353.5 cases per 100,000 of the population.

That's lower than the national average, which is currently 414.8 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 10,025 people tested positive for coronavirus across Greater Manchester in the week ending October 29.

That's a weekly fall of 1,567 cases, meaning the infection rate was down 14 per cent.

The infection rate is higher than the national average in 4 areas of Greater Manchester - Trafford, Bury, Stockport and Tameside.

In the week ending October 29, 46 people died within 28 days of a positive Covid test across Greater Manchester, one fewer than the week before.

Wigan saw a total of 1190 cases in the week ending October 29, which is 195 fewer than the previous week. That is a fall of 14 per cent.

In Wigan, the most recent coronavirus infection rate is now 359.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Tameside recorded 972 coronavirus cases, which is 125 fewer than in the previous seven days.

The latest infection rate in Tameside is 428.0 cases per 100,000 people and that is down 11 per cent week-on-week.

Oldham, which has the lowest infection rate in the region, recorded 619 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending October 29, which is 144 fewer than the previous 7 days.

The coronavirus infection rate in Oldham is now 260.5 cases per 100,000 people and is down by 19 per cent week-on-week.

In Bolton, the number of cases is down by six per cent compared to the previous week - leaving the infection rate at 281.7 cases per 100,000 population.

There were 812 positive Covid-19 tests in Bolton in the week ending October 29, which was 48 fewer than the previous seven days.

Manchester is an area where the trend is down. The latest infection rate here is 274.9 cases per 100,000 people.

There were 1,528 cases recorded in Manchester, which is 238 fewer than the previous week - a fall of 13 per cent.

There were 864 positive tests over the last week in Bury, which is 93 more than in the previous week.

The week-on-week trend in Bury is up by 12 per cent and the latest infection rate is 453.0 cases per 100,000 people.

The trend is down in Rochdale, where there were 896 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending October 29, which is 198 fewer than the previous seven days. That is down by 18 per cent compared to the previous week.

The latest infection rate in Rochdale is 400.6 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the national average.

There was a fall of 12 per cent in cases in Salford over the week ending October 29, and the infection rate is now 292.0 cases per 100,000 population.

Salford recorded 767 positive Covid-19 tests over the seven-day period, and that is 106 fewer than the previous week.

In Stockport, the latest infection rate is 439.5 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases has gone down by 17 per cent.

A total of 1,293 people tested positive for Covid in Stockport over the seven days ending on October 29, which is 269 fewer than the week before.

In Trafford, there were 1,084 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending October 29, which is 337 fewer than the previous seven days.

The infection rate in Trafford is down slightly compared with the previous day and the week-on-week trend is down by 24 per cent.
