Is The Late Show with Stephen Colbert cancelled?
After multiple reports shared that CBS was cancelling The Late Show on July 17, Colbert addressed the news on his show. Watch the clip here:
As Colbert says, he is not being replaced, rather CBS is ending its late night franchise all together. Colbert's exit is not immediate either, as the show will continue airing new episodes through May 2026.
CBS recently also cancelled its other late night program, After Midnight, though that decision was based more on host Taylor Tomlinson, who cited a desire to return full time to stand-up.
The Late Show has been on CBS since 1993 when David Letterman was brought on to bring late night to the network. Colbert replaced Letterman in 2015.
