It's just like the old saying goes: If at first you don't succeed, try, try again _ and maybe get Nancy Pelosi involved.
Stephen Colbert kicked off his second week of live shows Monday night by traveling to Philadelphia for the Democratic National Convention.
After a psychedelic experience brought on by a bad cheesesteak, the host got down to the task at hand: Donning his "Julius Flickerman" regalia and storming the stage at the Wells Fargo Arena, much as he did a week earlier at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in a well-publicized stunt.
Alas, one of the downsides of going viral is that it makes it harder to pull off a repeat performance. Colbert begged, pleaded and even flashed an almost-certainly-fake "podium pass" at the security guards inside the arena, but they didn't budge.
They were similarly unmoved by House Minority Leader Pelosi, who (kinda sorta) advocated on the comedian's behalf. Still, like a die-hard Bernie bro, Colbert refused to take no for an answer. Eventually, his perseverance paid off with a fleeting yet triumphant moment onstage.
What an example for us all.
