The Ravens took a 22-point lead following a kickoff return touchdown to start the third quarter, and held on to win 34-31.
The 49ers last won a championship at Super Bowl XXIX in 1995, defeating the Chargers 49-26 in a game where quarterback Steve Young threw six touchdown passes.
