Colin Hammond, Fulham
Colin Hammond, 65, was stabbed to death in Fulham High Street on 25 October 2012. Police and paramedics were called but Hammond was pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem later gave the cause of death as a single knife wound. A 27-year-old man was arrested nearby and charged with murder. The accused was too unwell to stand trial, but a jury ruled that he had stabbed Hammond to death and he was sectioned indefinitely under the Mental Health Act Photograph: Antonio Olmos
Jitka Nahodilova, Southgate
Jitka Nahodilova, 27, was found stabbed to death at her home in Southgate. Police were first alerted after her boyfriend jumped under a train at Finsbury Park station on 1 January 2011. The next morning, Nahodilova was discovered with multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Harjinder Singh Bhurji, Clayhall
Harjinder Singh Bhurji, 32, was stabbed to death in Clayhall on 13 September 2011 by a masked robber as he sat chatting with a female friend in his car. Bhurji was stabbed in the chest as he tried to hide the keys under his seat. The attacker then took the keys from the dying victim and drove off. Police were called and found Bhurji fatally wounded. Anthony Bates, Vauxhall
Anthony Bates, 36, was tortured to death at a squat in Vauxhall on 31 January 2011. Police found his badly mutilated body in the kitchen of a house in Fentiman Road the next day. Gary Speight, Dean Swift and his girlfriend, Corina Lowe, were charged with murder. On 21 December 2011, Speight and Swift were convicted of murder. Kevin Ssali, Lee
Kevin Ssali, 14, was stabbed to death in Lee on 15 September 2012. Ssali was attacked on the top deck of a bus. He managed to run out of the bus before collapsing in the street. Ssali died in hospital later the same night. Police charged a 17-year-old with murder. The prosecution case is that an argument started after Ssali mocked the accused’s younger brother. Negus McClean, Edmonton
Negus McClean, 15, was stabbed to death in Edmonton on 10 April 2011 after being chased by around seven young men riding bicycles and wearing hooded tops and face masks. McClean was then beaten with metal poles before being stabbed in the thigh and chest with such force that the blade snapped off in his body. Leroy James, Enfield
Leroy James, 14, was stabbed to death at Ponders End recreation ground in Enfield on 17 August 2011. James, who was found by paramedics lying by a concrete wall near this bus stop, was pronounced dead at the scene. A postmortem gave the cause of death as a single stab wound. Thierry Christian-Gnanakumar, Lewisham
Thierry Christian-Gnanakumar, 22, was attacked outside Lewisham library on 10 November 2012. Christian-Gnanakumar, who had been out celebrating a friend’s birthday, died in hospital in the early hours of 11 November. A postmortem gave the cause of death as severe blunt force trauma to the head and face. Eight men were charged with murder.
