The LaFontaines look forward to 2021 with announcement of their biggest gig yet

Wishaw band The LaFontaines have announced their biggest show to date, a massive headline gig at Glasgow’s O2 Academy.

The rockers, who were in the top 40 last year with their album Junior, announced the show last week on their social media.

This will be the band’s first Glasgow headline show since 2019, as well as their biggest show to date.

Speaking on Twitter, the band said: “Picture it. Vaccine delivered, thousands of us coming together, singing as loud as we can, pints in the air and a Friday night out with your best pals.

“We’ve set the date. Dare to dream.”

Tickets went on sale last week and, by Thursday, had 90 per cent sold out.

The trio’s blend of high-octane hip-hop, rock and pop has made them one of the most exciting live bands in Scotland in recent years and this summer even played gigs without fans.

Described by critics as their best album to date, Junior followed 2017’s Common Problem and their 2015 debut Class, which saw them hit top spot in the Indie Breakers Chart and make the top 10 in the Scottish charts.

Renowned for their electrifying live shows, the band have previously been on tour with Anderson Paak, Twin Atlantic and All Time Low, and last year were the main support to Don Broco across Europe.

The Academy gig will take place on Friday, August 21 next year and supports are still to be announced.
