The La Liga stadium plan that could be good news for Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham fans

Initial discussions are underway in Spain over the staged reintroduction of supporters into La Liga stadiums from the autumn, providing hope to fans of Premier League clubs that they may also get to see their teams in person before the end of 2020.

According to El Pais, stadiums may be allowed open to 30% of capacity for the start of next season with gradual expansion with normal service hoping to be resumed by the end of 2020.

That would be subject to the pandemic remaining under control and no second wave but follows talks in other European countries such as Poland about allowing fans back into grounds.

In Serbia fans will be allowed to attend games once they remain a metre apart and Russia has plans to allow 10% of their stadiums to be filled.

While the rest of the 2019-20 campaigns across Europe will be completed behind closed doors, there is a feeling within the Premier League that getting supporters through the turnstiles remains a priority.

A similar plan to Spain will be implemented once health advice indicates it is safe to do so with staged returns.

It is unclear how fans will be prioritised in such an event but clubs are likely to rank fans by loyalty with long-term season ticket holders possibly getting first preference.

La Liga is set to resume in two weeks time with clubs allowed full-contact training from Monday. The Premier League plans to return on June 17 with a full round of fixtures on the weekend of June 20/21.
