Harry Kane's injury against Southampton on January 1 has seen Tottenham Hotspur linked with Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.
Last season, the Poland international scored 22 goals in Serie A, but has struggled to find the back of the net at the same rate since the summer.
That should not discourage Spurs fans from believing he could be a boost to Jose Mourinho's side.
Kane could be out for around three months with a grade three hamstring tear. He may not be able to return to full fitness this season.
With Tottenham still in the fight for a top four finish, as well as the FA Cup and Champions League, a goalscorer is needed to cover for the injured Englishman and Piatek could fit the bill.
The 24-year-old is far a more limited player than the Spurs forward, however. He was at his best while playing a penalty box striker for Genoa last year before making a January move to Milan.
Chelsea's deal to reunite Gonzalo Higuain with Maurizio Sarri in 2019 saw Piatek move to the San Siro to replace the Argentinian after having scored 13 league goals in the first half of the season in the 2018/19 campaign.
He is known as a finisher first and foremost rather than the sort of all-rounder up front that Kane is for his team, scoring goals, setting up chances and bringing others into play.
While he may be a different sort of threat for Spurs, Piatek does stand out as an intriguing option when compared against Kane, even this season despite his modest return of four goals in 18 Serie A appearances.
According to StatsBomb, the Polish forward has taken 3.20 shots per 90 minutes while his counter-part at Tottenham has managed only 2.47 shots per 90.
It is in the Milan striker's pressing where supporters of Spurs should find some exciting evidence that a potential move for Piatek could bring added benefits.
He made 24.09 pressures per 90, regaining the ball 3.62 times. By contrast, Kane has made 16.32 pressures per 90, regaining the ball 2.19 times.
For Tottenham, this could be key to getting more out of their attack while the England international is out of action.
Kane has 11 goals in the Premier League this season.
It would be almost impossible to find a worthy replacement to the 26-year-old that would be available for a price Spurs are happy to pay, either as a loan signing or on a permanent deal.
Judging by his numbers this season, Piatek could add more shots to their forward line, while running down defenders to cause them to either lose the ball in dangerous areas, or put them under stress for another player to exploit.
Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso, Ryan Sessegenon, Son Heung-min and others could proft from the Polish attacker's hard work if he were unleashed by Mourinho to add a different dimension to his team up front.
