The Kris Ajer Celtic transfer exit wish as ex-club eyeing desperate cash lifeline

Celtic star Kris Ajer's former team in Norway are desperately hoping for a cash windfall if the defender makes a big money move away from Glasgow.

IK Start have major money problems and have admitted that the 10 per cent sell on clause for Ajer could save them if the Norwegian is sold by the Hoops this summer.

He's been linked with a move to AC Milan while his agent Tore Pedersen insisting he would leave Celtic Park this summer.

Ajer this week refused to be drawn about his future when quizzed in his homeland and would only state: "I'm not going to comment on speculation."

But his former club are keen for the 22-year-old to move because they negotiated a ten per cent sell-on clause when they sold him to Celtic four years ago. They are currently £2 million in debt and have stated they will run out of money by June.

And any sale would mean a huge windfall for the club who sold him for just £650,000.

IK Start owner Robin Reed said: "Our job is to do what we can to make the club financially sustainable. As for a sale of Kristoffer Ajer, I think that would be able to help us long-term.

"If we got money from his sale, we would be able to use the money from his transfer to our partners and others who have helped us out during this difficult time.

"So far, his possible transfer has only been speculation, but I think football is beginning to return to normal and Kristoffer is clearly in the spotlight for many clubs."
