Intriguing, lightly humorous, a bit scary: all things people say about me. No… I'm totally joking, I'm not scary. Okay, get serious, the book was all these things. I loved it. It was just generally awesome. Actually, I don't know if I can call it awesome. It was disturbing, it really was. But in such a way that gave me goose-bumps and had me falling off my chair (it was late, okay).
Todd Hewitt isn't content with his life, but you wouldn't be either if you could hear everyone else's thoughts all the time. But it's fine, everyone can, you just have to get used to it. Then he's forced away from his home and his family and begins a perilous journey with the pocket of 'no-noise' and his dog, Manchee (who could talk).
OK, Manchee was my favourite in every way possible. I mean, he was so much like a dog, it was unbelievable.
I really did love this book. I didn't think the ending was as final as it should have been but it didn't really matter.
It was disturbing and I let my mum read it and she was in tears for about an hour after. She thought I could have been too young to read it so maybe 14+ would have been better. I would give it 4/5 because I don't like giving people 5/5 (it makes me feel like a pushover).
I think that this is better than More Than This, although that was very good too.
