The Kings’ deteriorating relationship with Marvin Bagley III, explained

The top picks of the NBA’s 2018 draft class have made absolutely massive waves so far in their short careers.

Deandre Ayton has been to the NBA Finals. Trae Young has been to a Conference Finals and is an All-Star. Luka Doncic is an All-NBA player already.

And then there’s Marvin Bagley III.

The Kings picked Bagley second overall out of Duke and, well, let’s just say things haven’t quite gone as smoothly as anyone would’ve liked them to.

Bagley’s career with the Kings has been a mess so far. He had a solid start in his rookie season, but it’s been downhill from there. He’s been played out of position at times. He’s also been hurt at other times. Now, there are times where the Kings just don’t play him.

And that’s driven a wedge between him and the team that reportedly came to a head on Monday during Sacramento’s game against the Suns.
