The Kilsyth Rangers link that led to East Kilbride Thistle signing coup revealed

East Kilbride Thistle boss Iain Diack has snapped up long-term pal Scott Davidson in a shock swoop by the Showpark club.

The 28-year-old has been without a club since leaving Cambulsang Rangers, and has agreed to join up with former Kilsyth Rangers teammate Diack ahead of the West of Scotland League season.

With SPFL experience at Annan, Falkirk and Stirling the gaffer is delighted to bring his friend on board for the conference campaign.

"I've known Scott personally for quite a while," he told Lanarkshire Live Sport .

"I knew him when he was playing senior football for quite a while and I had actually played with him up front when we were at Kilsyth.

"I always knew how good a player he was but since the pandemic he has been looking for a club.

"We have always kept in touch and I kept him up to date with what was going on with us.

"We were looking to get a striker in and I've been speaking to him for the last couple of months.

"It's good to get him and have a bit of experience in the league.

"He's a very talented player and has the gift of scoring a spectacular goal.

"I've played in games with him where he has scored from the halfway line. He has that bit of genius in him that you need sometimes when the going gets tough."
