The key role Bryan Gil could play in Tottenham’s move to complete Jules Kounde transfer

Bryan Gil’s signing could help Tottenham’s pursuit of another Sevilla player, Jules Kounde.

Gil is one of the hottest prospects in La Liga, having shone on loan in a struggling Eibar side last season.

The deal is yet to be finalised duo to the intricacies of Erik Lamela heading in the opposite direction but also Gil’s involvement in the Tokyo Olympics.

However, once it goes through as expected, the signing could actually help Spurs to sign Kounde because it not only shows the north London sides ambition – which is appealing to the player - but it also helps the La Liga club with their current financial situation.

According to a report from Marca, the French international is intent on ensuring he develops as a player at his next destination. He is not just bothered about his potential pay but is looking to “grow” sportingly.

Selling Gil will provide the club roughly 30 million euros, and with Lamela going the other way, the clubs are likely to have established a better relationship.

Sevilla need money to be able to make additions of their own, and even though Kounde is not going to be cheap, they are likely to sell to Tottenham at a fair price.

And luckily for Spurs, the French International admitted he is unsure where his future lies earlier this year.

Also per Marca , Kounde said: "Regarding my future, it’s certain that I will perhaps have to change clubs this summer.

"But nothing has been finalised yet. I have not decided anything.

"My goal is to play for a big club, to try to always progress and to win trophies. It’s true that I might have to move but that’s not relevant today."

Spurs currently have Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld, Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga as centre-back options heading into the 2021/22 season, but adding Kounde will put them in a much better position moving forward.
