Ian Wright has revealed the reason why he sees Crystal Palace being able to beat Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
Roy Hodgson’s side beat the Gunners 3-2 last time out, a result which brought an end to Arsenal’s top four hopes last season.
While this season, just one point separates the two sides after nine matches in the Premier League, with the Gunners in need of all three points after Monday’s defeat to Sheffield United.
And Wright, who represented both clubs, believes Arsenal’s lack of creativity could result in the Palace defence being able to thwart Unai Emery’s side and claim a positive result in north London.
“I do believe that Palace have got a very good chance of winning this one, simply because of the lack of creativity from Arsenal, Palace are strong in that department in respects of keeping a team out,” the former forward told The Kelly and Wrighty Show.
“We saw them broken down against [Manchester] City but in respect of conceding shots and conceding chances, then Palace can cause them a lot of problems.”
Before Wright added on the Palace defence: “It’s the defensive qualities that they’ve got, they defend very well as a team and they’re nicking the odd goal,” he continued.
“At some stage they’re going to have to do more in respects of attacking and scoring goals because you cannot get away with having a striker who's got three goals or four goals in 50-odd games [Christian Benteke].
“[Jordan] Ayew’s got a couple of goals, then you’re looking for [Luka] Milivojevic who’s scored a few penalties and then this is where the onus is on [Wilfried] Zaha.
“But the fact is they do need to find goals from somewhere else.”
