Darren Bent has listed the key areas of the field where Tottenham need to recruit in the January transfer window.
Spurs made a poor start to the season which led to the departure of Mauricio Pochettino but they have since turned a corner following the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho's men now sit fifth in the Premier League and are only three points adrift of the Champions League places.
But Tottenham are still vulnerable defensively, something which has been highlighted by the fact that they have conceded 24 goals in 17 league matches this term.
Bent, therefore, believes that Mourinho should target three areas of his side in particular when it comes to the upcoming transfer window.
"They need to strengthen at the back and we have seen already that they have been shipping way too many goals and Mourinho doesn't like that," Bent, who was speaking on behalf of GentingBet, told football.london.
"Mourinho is quite a defensive minded coach so he is probably looking at it like he needs defenders. That will probably be a centre-back and two full-backs.
"They also need a holding midfielder and I think those are the three areas where improvements are required."
Bent believes Spurs can focus on improving their defence and midfield thanks to an already strong attack.
He added: "In the forward areas they are already set with the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min.
"It's all about getting a holding midfield with stature and signing some defenders."
