Harry Kane admits the length of time he has spent playing alongside Son Heung-min on the field and at the training ground has helped their partnership gradually develop into the force they are today.
The pair have been in breathtaking form in the Premier League this season, scoring 15 goals and creating another 10 in just eight matches. Their influence has helped Spurs to second place in the table, just a point behind leaders Leicester City.
Speaking to the club website on Wednesday, Kane admitted that his bond with Son has strengthened this term and is reflected of their successes on the pitch.
It's the sixth season Kane has lined up in the Spurs squad with Son and the sheer volume of games they've had to work on their chemistry, has led to this stunning start.
Frequently this season, Kane has dropped between the lines, acting as an auxiliary No10 with Son now fully aware when the captain moves into deeper areas on the field, if he makes runs in behind he will be found.
"Year by year, the more you play with someone the more you get to know someone, [it's aboout] just understanding your games a little bit better," the England captain said.
"I think we've had a great relationship over the years, but this season has just clicked a little bit more and yeah, I think [it's down to] probably both just being a bit more clinical in the final third whether it's the final pass or the final finish.
"When someone's on good form you just try and find them the ball and you end up scoring goals. It might be little deflections or going through the keeper's legs or things like that.
"We're riding that wave at the moment but look, it's not just me and Sonny, we've got a great team unit at the minute with great togetherness, and we're going to need that for the rest of the season if we want to keep staying as high up as we are in the table."
Despite Tottenham's strong start to the season, Kane is refusing to become complacent as he knows the unpredictable nature of the Premier League from years of first-hand experience.
"We've had a good, solid start to the season but I think there's a lot to improve on in all aspects of our game but there's still a long way to go," he continued.
"We're in a solid place at the moment, we're feeling good, but we also know in the Premier League that can turn around if you lose two, three on the bounce."
Spurs welcome Manchester City to North London after the international break as Jose Mourinho 's side look to establish themselves as true title challengers with victory.
