The key figure who could have big say on Joe Willock's next move is not at Newcastle or Arsenal

Joe Willock has stopped short of making any promises but the Arsenal loanee has hinted that he would like to stay at Newcastle United.

The boyhood Arsenal fan has thoroughly enjoyed his brief spell on Tyneside after joining the Magpies on loan back in February.

As well as getting the minutes he has desired of late, Willock has struck up a close bond with a number of his team-mates, including Allan Saint-Maximin and Jacob Murphy, and settled in the North East.

Willock may have only joined Newcastle a few months ago but, remarkably, only Callum Wilson has bagged more goals for the black-and-whites this season.

After grabbing his seventh goal for the club in the 1-0 win against Sheffield United on Wednesday night, Willock became the youngest player in Premier League history to score in six successive league games

You can see why those 10,000 Newcastle fans present inside St James' Park last night repeatedly told Willock that they wanted him to stay and Steve Bruce would dearly love to keep the midfielder at the club.

Much will depend on Arsenal's asking price while the player's father, Charles, will also have an input. Willock, like his brothers, Chris and Matty, is represented by his father, who served as the Londoner's intermediary when he joined Newcastle earlier this year.

Charles watches all of his sons' games on Wyscout and, when it comes to feedback, advice and guidance, Joe really values his father's opinion.

Willock will formally sit down with his father this summer to decide his next move but, for now, the 21-year-old's focus is just on the final game of the season at Fulham.

However, Willock could not help but smile as he was serenaded by Newcastle supporters while he attempted to carry out his post-match media duties after the win against Sheffield United.

"I'm going to say thank you," he told NUFC TV. "Thank you for making me feel so welcome. Thank you for letting me in with open arms.

"I hope you're satisfied to what I have given to the club so far and, hopefully, there's more to continue in the future.

"I'm not going to promise anything but the conversation is going to be held."
