The key factor that could be a bad omen for Nottingham Forest in Leeds clash

Nottingham Forest are gearing up for their return to Sky Bet Championship action this weekend, as they take on promotion rivals Leeds United.

The Reds take on the Whites at the City Ground in a game which could play a decisive role in who secures promotion to the Premier League.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side are currently in fourth place in the Championship table, four points behind Leeds who are second and occupy the final automatic promotion spot.

Forest go into the fixture on the back of a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City, while Leeds also lost in their previous outing as they were bettered by Wigan Athletic with a 1-0 scoreline.

Ahead of the game, the EFL have confirmed who will be the referee for the crunch clash on Trentside.

Oliver Langford will be the man in the middle, and he will be assisted by Adam Crysell and Nigel Lugg.

John Brooks will be the fourth official for the City Ground tussle.

Langford has taken charge of two Forest matches so far this season, and the Reds were not the winning side in either of them.

His last Reds match was their 2-1 defeat to Hull City in October, where goals from Josh Magennis and Jarrod Bowen secured the victory for the Tigers – Matty Cash netted what proved to be a consolation goal for Forest.

Langford was also in charge of Forest’s 1-1 draw away at Charlton Athletic in August, and was also the man in the middle for the Reds’ 2-0 defeat to Reading last season where he sent off Danny Fox and Tendayi Darikwa at the Madejski Stadium.

In the last six Forest matches that Langford has refereed, the Reds have only been on the winning side once, which came courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers on the final day of last season.
