The key difference between Liverpool and Tottenham - and what they need to keep doing to beat Man City

Robbie Keane believes Liverpool are best-placed to challenge Manchester City this season having admitted Tottenham Hotspur aren't good enough when assessing his two former side's Premier League title chances.

The Reds currently top the table with a 100% record after three games players and sit two points clear of the reigning champions after they dropped points to Spurs earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Mauricio Pochettino's side, who lost to Liverpool in the Champions League final back in June, already trail by five points after losing to Newcastle United on Sunday.

And Keane highlighted the key difference between his two old clubs when having his say on the title race on Sky Sports.

"Liverpool (are the main challengers). I think it’s between those two sides again," said the former Republic of Ireland international. "This campaign we have already seen signs from the three games that last season’s form is continuing.

"I think Tottenham are again going to be too short. Hopefully they will finish in the top four but Liverpool and Man City are just ahead.

"Liverpool were fantastic the other day against Arsenal.

"Man City didn’t play their best against Bournemouth. The difference is the top sides take their chances."
