The key dates that will shape Everton's summer as Blues set for crucial transfer window

We all know that Everton certainly have a massive summer ahead of them.

Marco Silva's first season in charge of the club went down fairly well. There was certainly a lot of promise involved, but everyone will admit things could have gone btter.

This transfer window will provide the perfect chance for the manager and Marcel Brands to add more quality to Everton's squad and put those inconsistencies right.

European football will surely be the main aim next term - and how smoothly this summer runs could well be crucial to that being achieved.

Here, we've listed all the key dates for the Blues over the coming weeks and months - from pre-season, to notable transfer dates and more.

June 7 - Released list

This is certainly a big one for Everton.

There have been a lot of questions over the last few months surrounding the futures of both Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines.

But June 7 is the deadline for Premier League clubs to publish their released and retained lists - meaning we will have full clarity over the experienced pair and whether they have new Blues deals.

That could, of course, have ramifications for Everton's transfer window activity too.

June 13 - Fixtures released

Mark down the date in your diaries everyone...

Of course we all know that you've got to play every side in the Premier League twice across the campaign, but there's still a certain air of excitement about the fixtures being released for a new season isn't there?

When will the first derby be? Who is Everton's derby day fixture? Who will the Blues open the term against?

We'll find all that out on June 13.

July 1 - Pre-season begins

At the minute at least, we're working under the assumption that Everton's pre-season preparations will begin on the first day of July.

Handily, that is a Monday.

In any case, Everton will hope to be welcoming a couple of new signings through the door for the first day of pre-season, after waiting a long term for their first signing of last summer.

Jonas Lossl is already confirmed from Huddersfield, but who will be joining the free transfer?

July 7 - First pre-season match

Of course, there won't be much time spent at Finch Farm during that first week before the squad will be flying out to their first match in preparation for the beginning of the new campaign.

So far, the only pre-season match Everton have announced is the game against Kariobangi Sharks in the final of the SportPesa Cup, with the match taking place at the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.

July 11 - U23s squad begins preparations

David Unsworth's U23 squad will be set for major changes this summer.

The Everton youngsters achieved a fantastic double last term, but a lot of that squad will either be moving on loan, leaving the club permanently or could potentially be stepping up to the first team.

It will be a rebuilding process for the manager, and we'll see the first glimpse of how that will shape up on July 11.

Everton U23s are taking on Swindon Town during a training camp in La Manga, as part of six pre-season fixtures that have already been confirmed for the young Blues squad.

August 8 - Transfer deadline day

Hopefully, Everton will have the majority of their transfer business done before this stage.

Last season there was a bit of a mad dash for the Blues on deadline day, with Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina eventually both arriving from Barcelona late in the day.

Kurt Zouma even arrived well after the deadline had passed!

This time around, the date to look out for is August 8 - and hopefully it might be a little bit less stressful.

August 9/10 - Season starts

And, of course, shortly after deadline day we have the 2019/20 season officially getting underway.

As it stands, the campaign is due to start on Saturday August 10.

However, in both of the last two terms, Friday night football has in fact marked the first match of the season - so there's every possibility that could again be the case this time around.

Will Everton be involved in that opening match? We'll have to wait and see...
