HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana has once again showcased her prodigious ability in capturing images through photography during her solo exhibition "Little Wild", running at Leica Gallery Bangkok until April 28.
On display are 34 images the princess took during her five-day journey to Kenya last May. The collection portrays the beauty of wild animals and picturesque landscapes of this African country.
Prior to working on each of her fashion design collections, the princess would travel to different destinations to seek new sources of inspiration. This is the first time in 10 years that she's resumed taking photography seriously.
Highlighting her personal fondness for documentary-style aesthetics, the princess chose a Leica camera to capture a beautiful and inspiring series of photographs from this Kenya trip.
The voyage may very well be remembered as one of the most adventurous excursions she has ever embarked on. From jeeps to hot-air balloons, the princess took still and motion images while illustrating onto a personal sketchbook her quest, faithfully accompanied by many sturdy cameras that battled both dust and humidity.
Throughout the trip, she gave prominence to the natural beauty surrounding her, from warm sun rays glowing onto the desolate savannahs, to fiery yet graceful movements of wild creatures, including mighty tigers and stunning giraffes. Her fascination extends to the Maasai people, an ethnic group she had the chance to get to know personally.

The exhibition is a quite rare opportunity to witness the novel experiences recorded by the designer princess, whose snapshots are typically either about fashion or the urban lifestyle.
"It is not very often that I get the chance to take in such pure, untainted scenery. For that reason, whenever the opportunity arises, I want to capture all the little details through snapshots as keepsakes," said the princess.
There is also a full colour book collating the "Little Wild" collection of photographs available at the exhibition, priced at 999 baht. All proceeds will be presented to the princess.
Leica Gallery Bangkok is on the 2nd floor of Gaysorn Village, Phloenchit Road, and is open 10am-8pm. There is no admission fee.
