The Kalvin Phillips transfer comments Leeds United fans will love

Kalvin Phillips has told Leeds United fans exactly what they want to hear about his future, as he played down a potential move away from Elland Road.

The 23-year-old has been a star for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season during a fierce fight for promotion so far this season, with Leeds currently sitting second in the standings behind West Brom.

After seeing Jack Clarke lured to Tottenham in the summer, although he has returned on loan, fans were understandably fearful about speculation that a number of clubs are keen on Phillips.

However, the midfielder explained that he has no desire to leave Bielsa's side and spoke about his long-term ambition for his career at the club.

"If people are talking about you it’s either for a good thing or a bad thing and I know that I’m not doing anything bad at the moment so it’s obviously good that people are talking about me. I’ve got a lot of Leeds fans tweeting me and on Instagram asking me when I’m going to play for England, I just take it as a pat on the back and a compliment, it fuels me to do even better," he told Sky Sports' EFL Podcast

“People are bringing up these big money moves, which obviously I don’t want because I want to be at Leeds, but it’s obviously a good thing for me because I’ve got a lot of people speaking highly of me, a lot of ex-footballers speaking highly of me, people that I’ve never spoken to and don’t really know so it’s very good.

“I’m in a good situation right now so hopefully I can carry it on and get Leeds back where they belong."

Phillips, who signed a five-year deal earlier this season, also spoke about how he believes he can achieve everything he wants in his career by remaining at Elland Road.

"I’m never going to get comfortable because I always want to do one better, I’m that type of person, I don’t like to just  be happy with what I’m doing now, I want to do more, and I think that’s a big thing for the manager as well, he never wants people to get comfortable, he wants us to feel like we’re working towards something special and we are doing that.”
