The Juventus 'transfer' which could be fantastic news for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta in January

Juventus are reportedly eyeing a move to bolster their already strong midfield options.

The Allianz Stadium is already home to the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Miralem Pjanic, Blaise Matuidi, Sami Khedira and Rodrigo Bentancur among plenty others.

All of which has resulted in former Liverpool ace Emre Can being frozen out under Maurizio Sarri this season as he wasn't included in Juve's Champions League squad for the group phase.

And it would appear that competition for places in central midfield is about to get even fiercer.

According to Di Marzio, Juventus have contacted Barcelona over a potential move for Arturo Vidal in the January transfer window.

This would mark a return to Turin for the Chile international who reached the 2015 Champions League final with the Old Lady and also won four Serie A title during his time at the club.

Should Vidal rejoin Juventus in the new year then Arsenal could be the ones directly affected.

The aforementioned report also speculates that Adrien Rabiot could become available if another central midfelder arrives in the new year.

An arrival in Turin just last summer on a free transfer following his release from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, Rabiot is yet to establish himself in Juve's already packed midfield.

Of his nine league appearances, only five have been as a stater which means he's accumulated just over 500 minutes of Serie A action so far this season and a lack of game time could harm his chances of making the France squad for this summer's European Championships.

Hence why he's been linked with an exit in January.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with signing Rabiot on loan until the end of the season and he could even be a replacement for Granit Xhaka amid links to Hertha Berlin.

Although, Sport Mediaset claim that Juve are not willing to let Rabiot leave in January and will not even consider a short-term proposal from the north London outfit.

But could Arsenal be boosted by Vidal's return to Juventus which in turn could see Rabiot finally make a move to the Emirates Stadium?
