The Jump Cut: The NBA Finals need Drake

Welcome to The Jump Cut, For The Win’s newest video series where we take an alternative approach to the most popular topics in sports.

Even if you haven’t been watching the NBA Finals, you’ve for sure been hearing about it. Not because of the basketball, but because of Drake.

NBA fans know the Canadian rapper/singer/songwriter is a diehard Toronto Raptors fan and an ambassador for the team, but he has practically taken over the NBA Finals with his obnoxious courtside banter and clever outfits.

And honestly, it’s what has made this series so entertaining.

There has never been this sort of fan-player relationship during a game, especially not with someone as well-known as Drake. It’s incredibly entertaining and regularly captures the attention of fans everywhere.

But Drake was MIA during Game 3 at Oracle Arena. He quickly took to social media immediately after the Raptors’ win to post quite the picture of Klay Thompson, but it just wasn’t the same as him courtside picking a piece of lint out of Steph Curry’s hair to sell online.

So whether you’re a fan of Drake’s intense cheerleading or not, you were probably still looking forward to it during Game 3, and now quietly hoping he shows for Game 4.
