The Julian Nagelsmann 'agreement' that could be fantastic news for Tottenham's transfer plans

Tottenham Hotspur may have suffered a blow in their pursuit to appoint a new manager, but hopes of bolstering the first-team squad have been boosted.

Last Monday, Jose Mourinho was sacked after just 17 months as head coach, with former Spurs midfielder Ryan Mason placed in charge until the end of the season.

football.london understands that Spurs' profile for their ideal next manager is one who is progressive, attack-minded, favouring possession-based football and most importantly fits into the club's culture.

As a result, some of the names on their shortlist are Julian Nagelsmann and Brendan Rodgers, as well as Ajax boss Erik ten Hag and Brighton manager Graham Potter.

However, if reports in Germany are to be believed, then Naglesmann's name will soon be erased from the list.

According to Kicker, the 33-year-old has requested for his RB Leipzig contract - that runs until 2023 - to be prematurely terminated so he can seal a move to Bayern Munich.

In addition, the report states that Leipzig are demanding €25m (£21m) from the Bundesliga giants in order to allow Nagelsmann to make the switch to the Allianz Arena.

The German is seen as the perfect replacement for Hansi Flick, who announced last week that he will be leaving Bayern at the end of the season.

Furthermore, it's being reported by Bild that Bayern have reached an 'agreement' with Nagelsmann and all that's left is an agreement with RB Leipzig.

Whilst many Spurs fans would prefer to have Nagelsmann as their manager, his reported agreement with Bayern could be great news for the club ahead of the summer transfer window.

It's safe to say there is an upheaval that is taking place at RB Leipzig at the moment - one that the north London outfit could take advantage of.

Dayot Upamecano is leaving - ironically for Bayern too - Ibrahima Konate has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and news of Nagelsmann's imminent departure would suggest there will be plenty of movement this summer.

Spurs just so happen to have been linked with a move for Marcel Sabitzer.

As reported by football.london, prior to Mourinho's exit, along with pursuing a new centre-back, Sabitzer is considered to be among the north London club's transfer targets this summer.

If that remains the case regardless of who is appointed as the new manager, now appears to be the right time to get a deal done for the Austria international.
