The Jose Mourinho decision that could start Chelsea's Romelu Lukaku transfer merry-go-round

There's nothing quite like the transfer window and the merry-go-rounds that can occur and, this summer, Chelsea could be the club to both open and close the chain.

Blues supporters wait with bated breath for the announcement of Romelu Lukaku after the club agreed a £98million fee with Inter - and it appears the Nerazzurri are on the verge of signing their replacement as Edin Dzeko has arrived in Milan to undergo his medical.

The former Manchester City forward may be 35, but will leave quite the hole for Roma in the Italian capital, with Dzeko expected to sign a two-year deal according to Sky Sport Italia.

The Bosnian international will have a daunting task in replacing Lukaku, but Jose Mourinho and Roma will be keen to quickly replace the 119 goals in 260 matches the striker has provided in recent seasons.

That's where Tammy Abraham comes in.

Despite scoring 12 goals in 32 appearances last term, the 23-year-old struggled for regular minutes after Thomas Tuchel was appointed in January and looks set for an exit this summer.

Although he has featured in all three of Chelsea's pre-season matches so far, it is still likely that Abraham could leave this month, especially when Lukaku completes his move.

Reports suggest that Roma have offered a £34million deal to the Blues but only as an option to buy following an initial loan deal. Chelsea hope to receive a fee in an attempt to recoup some of their costs in signing Lukaku.

With Dzeko's departure all but complete it could force the Serie A side to move closer to Chelsea's demands, with Abraham said to be interested in working with Mourinho.

The young striker is believed to prefer a move to Arsenal but the fee could prove problematic for the Gunners, as Roma and Mourinho's transfer move could start the inevitable domino effect.
