The Jose Mourinho comments that will concern Spurs fans about the January transfer window

Jose Mourinho insists that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will do his best for the club in the January transfer window.

But the Spurs head coach said he won't be pushing for a new striker to be signed, despite the injury to Harry Kane, which is set to rule the club's top scorer out until April.

Tottenham have no senior out-and-out strikers in his absence, with Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min the alternative options to play up front, and teenage striker Troy Parrott lacking experience.

However, when asked if he’ll be requesting a replacement striker be signed, Mourinho told talkSPORT : “No.

“I think Daniel Levy today is proud of the players because of what the players did.

“He’s proud of one kid [Japhet Tanganga] that come from the academy and showed the world he is a new player for the Premier League level.

“And Daniel Levy always tries to do the best for the club and he’ll do what he thinks is the best and what he thinks is possible.”

Spurs have been linked with a number of strikers in the January transfer window, including AC Milan's Krzysztof Piatek, while the Mirror reports that Chelsea target Gabriel Barbosa is also on the radar for Tottenham.
