The Jose Mourinho blueprint Tottenham must follow to beat Ajax and reach Champions League final

Former Manchester United and Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho feels he has the secret to getting the better of Ajax.

The Dutch outfit have shown no fear in the Champions League this season.

Reaching the semi-final after disposing of holders Real Madrid at the round of 16 stage and then denying Cristiano Ronaldo the chance of retaining the trophy by beating his Juventus side this week.

What Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said about Man City & Tottenham that Spurs fans will love

Their reward is a date with Tottenham Hotspur with the first-leg set to take place in north London at the end of the month.

For the second time in the space of two years Ajax have been amongst the final four of a European competition, having achieved this feat in the Europa League during the 2016/17 campaign.

After getting past Lyon, they faced the Red Devils in the final and came up short with Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on target that night in Stockholm.

In charge of United that day was Mourinho and he's offered an insight on how to beat this impressive Ajax side.

"We gave them the game that they didn't want to have, they complained about long build-up, they complained about [Marouane] Fellaini, about physicality, they complained because they couldn't cope," Mourinho said on RT Sport, as per the Daily Mail .

"If you play against Ajax in the way they want to play you have the risk that they are better than you.

"If I see for example Ajax play Barcelona or Liverpool in the final, if they reach the final, I think Barcelona and Liverpool can beat them playing their own strength but when your quality is not there you have to go to the strategic point of view and give them what they don't want."
