The Joe Rodon verdict Tottenham fans will love amid transfer links

Joe Rodon has been backed to complete a move to Tottenham.

The Swansea City defender has been linked with a move to North London ahead of the domestic transfer deadline on October 16.

And according to Rodon's former Swansea teammate and Premier League winner Andy King, the young defender has what it takes to make the step up.

"I’m not surprised," said King on Sky Sports. "When I was at Swansea I was on loan at the time and he was one which they looked at and earmarked as going to be a big player, not just for Swansea but for Wales as well.

Should Spurs win a trophy this season?

"I think that he’s beginning to show over the last year or so. He’s had a really good year with Swansea last year and he’s got all the capabilities these days of what he needs to be a modern-day centre-half.

"He’s good on the ground, good in the air and most importantly for some managers he is good in possession as well. He’s certainly got a massive future ahead of him, whether that’s at Swansea for another season or at Tottenham.

"From what I’ve seen I can definitely see him fitting in at a top team like Tottenham and I’m sure Swansea will be doing everything they can to keep hold of him in the next week."

Tottenham are said to value Rodon at around £7million and could pay up to £12million, but WalesOnline say Swansea want more than £20million for their star defender.

Rodon is still only 22 but has already racked up more than 50 league appearances for Swansea and five Wales caps.
