ANTHEMIC indie band The Jezabels will reunite on stage next year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their award-winning debut album Prisoner.
The album, which features the tracks Endless Summer, Piece Of Mind and Long Highway, catapulted the Sydney four-piece to one of Australia's top bands on its release in 2011.
The album peaked at No.2 on the ARIA charts and won the prestigious Australian Music Prize.
Since touring in early 2019, which included a free Newcastle show at Queen's Wharf Hotel, The Jezabels have been inactive as frontwoman Hayley Mary has turned her attention to establishing a solo career through the EPs The Piss, The Perfume (2020) and The Drop (2021).
But Mary will reunite with bandmates Nikolas Kaloper (drums), Samuel Lockwood (guitars) and Heather Shannon (keyboards) next year for eight shows where The Jezabels will perform Prisoner in its entirety for the first time.
Newcastle NEX will host The Jezabels on June 12.
"It's been a hell of a decade since it came out, but it's made us all the more grateful for some of the things we took for granted," The Jezabels said in a statement.
" Like so many bands, playing our records live was always as important, if not more important, than making those records.
"We can't think of a better way to celebrate Prisoner and say thank you to our fans that have supported us over the years than to announce this tour. We hope you can join us."
