The Jets avoided the worst-case scenario with Zach Wilson’s knee injury, and fans are relieved

New York Jets fans got some good news on Saturday morning after a scary situation on Friday night during the preseason opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Though New York won the game, it lost second-year quarterback Zach Wilson early in the game after he suffered what appeared to be a non-contact knee injury while scrambling. There were initial fears that the injury could be season-ending.

However, it seems Jets fans can breathe a major sigh of relief. According to the New York Post’s Brian Costello, Wilson suffered a bone bruise but no and a meniscus tear in his knee. Per Costello, it’s a trim and not a full repair, but he is still expected to be out for 2-4 weeks as he will undergo arthroscopic surgery.

Though potentially losing your starting quarterback for the beginning of the season is less than ideal, it could have been a lot worse. Jets fans on Twitter were extremely relieved to find out that Wilson’s absence will be a matter of weeks, not months or potentially even longer.
