Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink says he is not surprised over Jean-Kevin Augustin's susceptibility to injuries.
The on-loan Leeds United striker suffered a setback prior to Sunday's game against Cardiff City that meant he was forced to sit the game out.
Leeds have kept the seriousness of Augustin's injury under wraps, meaning it is currently unclear how long he will be out for.
Yet Cardiff is at least another game missed for the on-loan RB Leipzig forward, who has managed just three appearances since joining in January.
There were question marks over the 23-year-old's fitness when he arrived at Elland Road, and he subsequently suffered a hamstring injury in February that kept him out of three matches before the coronavirus shutdown.
Former Whites striker Hasselbaink says this is not surprising, and that sometimes injuries can come when a player tries to make a return to fitness.
"It is frustrating, especially coming to a new team," he said to Sky Sports.
"He came already a little bit injured, obviously then what happened with the pandemic and you would have thought he would be ready to play.
"But when you have big injuries, little injuries come and that’s what he has.
"It must be very hard for him and also for the team because they need two out-and-out strikers.
"Bamford is playing today, but they need someone to come off the bench as well."
Augustin has managed just 15 appearances across the whole season, with his time at Monaco on loan in the first half of the campaign being spent largely out of favour.
The Whites have the option to turn his loan into a permanent move in the summer.
