The jaw-dropping scoring statistics behind David Clifford's spectacular 2022

Quaid Park, Coolyroy is the latest stop for the greatest Gaelic football showman on earth as the David Clifford bandwagon rolls into town this Saturday.

The Footballer of the Year’s Fossa side will face Feohanagh/Castlemahon (Limerick) on their own patch at 1pm in the Munster junior semi-final with ‘the Clifford factor’ sure to see a bump in the attendance.

What a never-ending season it’s been for the 23-year-old. And he’s now just four wins away from All-Ireland glory with his club, to go with the McGrath Cup, League, Munster and All-Ireland titles he’s already won with Kerry.

Clifford has lost just one knockout Championship game this year - the Sigerson Cup final with the University of Limerick back in mid-February.

He played a total of 14 games for Kerry - missing out on just two all season - and helped the county to 13 wins.

The only loss came against Tyrone in the final round of the League, a tie which was a dead rubber for Kerry, who had already qualified for the decider.

While lining out for Kerry in the McGrath Cup, Clifford helped UL to four wins out of five, and their first Sigerson Cup final appearance in 25 years.

The annual All Star is almost a given at this stage - he’s won four in his five seasons with Kerry to date.

Footballer of the Year was a foregone conclusion after the displays he delivered this year.

Now, at the tailend of the 2022, the indefatigable scoring machine has kicked East Kerry to a third County title in four years and Fossa to the Kerry Junior Championship.

2022 will be remembered in Gaelic football circles as the year of David Clifford.

The icing on the cake was landing the Kerry captaincy for 2023, confirmed at the annual County Convention last Monday evening.

In total, Clifford played 19 games for college and county this year, with the teams he was on winning 16 of them, drawing one and losing two.

Then he moved onto club duty where he helped East Kerry and Fossa to Kerry County and Junior crowns. He also won the Footballer of the Year award and earlier this week was named Kerry captain for 2023. Here is David Clifford's 2022:
