The jaw-dropping moment a 75-year-old drink-driver heads WRONG WAY down M6

This is the jaw dropping moment a 75-year-old drink-driver drove the wrong way up the M6 speeding towards oncoming traffic.

Dashcam footage of the shocking incident shows David Haughton darting the wrong way down the motorway between junction 33 and 32.

The 75-year-old was almost twice the drink driving limit when he made the dangerous move in a bronze Volvo on April 23.

Police arrested the pensioner, from Bolton, at the scene, after they found him in his vehicle parked up against the central reservation, Lancs Live reports.

A spokesperson for Lancashire police said: "The potential consequences of his actions could have been fatal."

Haughton was arrested and charged with dangerous and drink driving after being found to be almost twice the legal drink driving limit.

He was handed an eight-month prison sentence and disqualified from driving for two years.

Dramatic dashcam footage shows Haughton's Volvo speeding toward an oncoming driver, causing him to take evasive action to avoid a head-on smash.
