The Jack Wilshere transfer hope Rangers can take advantage of if they move for ex-Arsenal star

The news that Jack Wilshere was being released by West Ham was a footnote on a busy transfer deadline day.

Then from nowhere, the rumours started to emerge that Rangers might be interested in taking him to Glasgow.

It's grown arms and legs despite no real evidence it might happen, but naturally social media is getting excited. Rangers' twitter account is dealing with hundreds of replies to every tweet asking them to 'Announce Wilshere.'

But while it might seem unlikely right now, it's not all that far-fetched and Rangers could take advantage of Wilshere's bid to be happy while playing again.

And all he really wants is a place to enjoy his football and played 30 games a season.

Even playing half of Rangers games in all competitions, he would easily reach that number.

Wilshere told talkSPORT: "I'm not really sure to be honest.

"I know it sounds mad after terminating my contract, you'd think that I have something lined up.

"I'm open to anything really. I think I want to try something different. I'm leaning towards that.

"Maybe La Liga or going to Italy - something a little bit different that not many English players have done.

"At the same time, I'm probably going to take a week or two to decide.

"I was in this position when I left Arsenal and if I've learned anything from that it's to take your time and make sure it's right for you.

"I'm not saying I have regrets, but this time I'm going to take my time and find something that suits me.

"I just want to be happy playing football again. The last time I felt happy playing was probably in the first three games when I signed for West Ham

"That quickly changed mind you - we lost the first three games! So it didn't last long.

"As long as I'm happy on the pitch, playing with a smile on my face, playing 20-30 games per season where I'm an important player for a team."

The issue is that if he does want to go to La Liga or Serie A, then the Camp Nou and the San Siro might be more appealing than the Tony Macaroni.
