The Jack Clarke selection headache Bielsa could hand Pochettino ahead of the 2020/21 season

Tottenham fans will be keeping close tabs on Jack Clarke next season following his move from Leeds United.

The winger really made an impression in the Championship last campaign and Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs ensured that he will be playing his football at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the future.

The 18-year-old is now back at Elland Road on a season-long loan deal and he will be hoping to keep up his recent progression by featuring a lot more regularly under Marcelo Bielsa from August onwards.

Utilised on either flank by the experienced manager last campaign, the York-born star actually played in a different role in Leeds' pre-season win over Guiseley on Thursday evening.

Clarke started in a central attacking role, swapping regularly with new summer signing Helder Costa out wide.

It remains to be seen if the new Spurs signing will remain there over the course of the season but it could potentially give Pochettino a selection headache once the player returns to north London this time next year.

"It’s definitely a role I haven’t played for a while," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "But if they want me to play there I will try my best.

"I’d obviously be more suited out on either of the wings but if it’s a job I have to do I’m sure I’ll do it."

Clarke will once again be a key figure for Leeds next season as they bid to return to the top flight for the first time since 2004.

Asked about what Spurs have said about his loan spell back in West Yorkshire, he added: "I’m not sure. It just depends how things go and we’ll see what happens.

"Obviously I want to come back here and play as much as possible and maybe use it as a bit of a platform to propel myself on next year and maybe push to be involved with the squad next year but we’ll just have to see how it goes."
